My 35-year career in education started as a teacher at Lewis Carroll Academy of the Arts, where I taught Kindergarten through 12th grade. I went on to become the Director of Education, during which time I developed their phonics and math program, English curriculum and specified, history, science and geography curriculum. I had direct oversight of the teachers, classrooms, quality control and the educational programs that were specifically tailored to each individual student.
In the last 25 years I have tutored students ranging from those in need of homework help, to those enrolled with IEP’s in special education programs, from those diagnosed with learning differences such as ADD/ADHD and processing disorders, to the exceptionally bright or the gifted.
I also served as the Director of the Hollywood Education and Literacy Project which is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to eradicate illiteracy and empower the individual to become a competent, independent learner with sound communication skills that make it possible to succeed in life.
I am currently the Reading Specialist in the Special Ed Dept. at 2 Charter Middle Schools and 2 Charter High Schools where I tutor students with IEP’s with ADD and Dyslexia and Processing Disorder.
