About

I decided to start The Curtis Education Group 13 years ago with some of the finest, most experienced and
caring reading tutor I could find.

I oversee each student’s progress through close communication with the tutors after each daily session,
so I can ensure quality control. Because of this, I keep our group small and
allow the reading tutor to only take on a few students.

My 30-year career in education started as a teacher at Lewis Carroll Academy of the Arts, where I
taught Kindergarten through 12th grade. I went on to become the Director of
Education, during which time I developed their phonics program and English
curriculum and specified all math, history, science and geography curriculum. I
had direct oversight of the teachers, classrooms, quality control and the
educational programs that were specifically tailored to each individual
student. .

In the last 18 years I have tutored students ranging from those in need of homework help, to those enrolled
in special education programs, from those diagnosed with learning differences
such as ADD/ADHD and processing disorders, to the exceptionally bright or the
gifted.

I also served as the Director of the Hollywood Education and Literacy Project which is a non-profit is a
non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to eradicate illiteracy
and empower the individual to become a competent, independent learner with
sound communication skills that make it possible to succeed in life.

I am currently the Reading Specialist in the Special Ed Dept. at Community Charter Middle School where I
tutor children with ADD and Dyslexia and Processing Disorder.
